3 Reasons Why Nuclear Energy Is Awesome! 3/3

Nuclear energy might have a lot of unused potential. Not only is it one of the best mid term solutions for global warming bit despite what gut feeling tells us, it has saved millions of lives. By investing more into better technologies we might be able to make nuclear energy finally save and clean forever.

  1. I read that when it comes to Thorium reactors , they are atleast a Decade ahead . So I did search about it . India is having a 3 stage nuclear program. In which they use thorium as a fuel. The reactor is expected to obtain criticality soon.

  2. 원자력은 구시대의 산물이며 미래에 대한 골칫거리다. 가능한 한 빨리 그만두자.
Nuclear power is a product of old times and a headache for the future. Let's quit as soon as possible.(I used the translator.)

  3. "It would take at least 40 years to switch to 100 percent renewable energy" – instant loss of credibility. Back to the home page.

  4. That "stuff buried deep underground" relies on concrete and steel which will both break and erode before the waste they house stops being radioactive. We just don't have a surefire way to isolate them forever from the soil or underground water without vigilant supervision. We're just kicking down the can down the road to future generations. They'll have to constantly refurbish the waste housing and containers as they expire for thousands of years or shoot them into space. That cheap energy will be fully repaid in kind by the humanity eventually. We don't even have a theoretical method to totally eliminate or fully reclaim used fuel rods. That's the real issue, not reactor meltdowns. We won't be alive to see the unending costs but I can imagine they'll be spitting on our graves for burying all that toxic stuff that will keep poisoning and costing them over time.

  5. Nuclear energy is underrated. People get scared because of the word nuclear, but it’s the more efficient than many alternatives like wind or solar

  6. Nuclear waste => no way to be disposed of them in an environmentally friendly manner, unless we throw them out into open space. Greenhouse gasses => at least has a waste recycle system that is environmentally friendly, build more trees!!! The solution is not to look for ways that can allow us to use more energy!! Rather, the solution is within us. Less greed, less need to buy STUFF, and making that STUFF requires a lot of energy, so there would be less demand for more energy, less pollution, and overall less pressure on EARTH!!! Basically, own as few things as you can. Find yourself alternative means to be happy, other than going shopping! Use bicycles to commute! And finally, you will be happier and feel more good about yourself and about life in general if you spend your earnings for the benefit of others rather than on some items that give you happiness and satisfaction for only a short amount of time.

  7. "Even in the best case scenario well need over 40 years to make the ecological transition"
I need the source of this phrase please!!

  8. "Even if you include the deaths from Fukushima and Chernobyl, nuclear energy ranks last in deaths per energy produced." What figure are you using for the number of deaths from Chernobyl?
